What glorious fall weather we are having! We had a wonderful drive to Vancouver in the sunshine yesterday to see Jeff Ekdahl in his closing show at Magenta Theater; Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks. What an amazing show! So well-plotted and written with so much understanding of life as a senior citizen; highlighting both its joys and losses. Great one-liners that were both funny and revealing. It had heart and humor-I so enjoyed it! Jeff was outstanding in his role; he made it seem like his life-he WAS that reluctant dance teacher Michael in all his cynicism and pain. And his counterpart, the wealthy widow ensconced in her Palm Beach condo, desperately protecting her vulnerability, rose to combat his rudeness and callous behavior in an admirable characterization. The set was beautiful, the costumes gorgeous, and the lighting effects extremely conducive in creating mood and memorable vignettes. Director Patrick Spike brought his A game and, with his cast and crew, created a wondrous theater experience. Magenta Theater consistently creates magic. Although it is too late to see Jeff's show, but sure to check out their upcoming productions! - (patron shared on her facebook page)
